Wildlife Drawing and Map Pillow - Cheeky Beaver on 1947 Dominion of Canada Map

$64.95 CAD
This cheeky little beaver, from an original drawing by the artist, is superimposed on a vintage 1947 map of Canada and is tinted in shades of sepia like an old photograph. The beaver is a well-known symbol of Canada, honoured by the Hurons for hundreds of years as their totem and since 1867, the beaver has been on the official coat of arms of the Canadian government.

Perfect for rustic, industrial, modern and even traditional interiors, this pillow will be a highlight of your decor. The front of the pillow is cotton/canvas. The back of the pillow is a classic black linen/cotton fabric. There is a black zipper along the bottom of the pillow which allows for easy removal of the insert.
Pillow with included insert made of non-allergenic material is 12" x 18" (30 cm x 46 cm). Wash in cold water. Hang to dry. Iron while still damp.

The Artist/Designer: Barbara has been drawing animals all her life. For a number of years she was illustrating children's books, and then started stylizing her work to look like the steel engravings or woodblock prints that can be found in vintage school books and screen printing her drawings onto textiles by hand. All of the sewing is done with a 1947 Singer Featherweight sewing machine which is in keeping with the "vintage-look" of her work.
